Each month sees a different employee receiving the status of Employee of the Month; this entitles them to select one NGO / NPO that will receive a Donation Hamper.

During the course of the month, Platinum employees will spontaneously donate various household items, clothing and food. The Donation boxes are collected from the Platinum offices, and handed over to the chosen organisation.

This initiative operates on a monthly basis, showing once again, that the Platinum Family cares!

Donations to TygerBear Foundation

Lynn Fisher, HR Manager for Platinum Africa International, was selected as the Employee of the Month for June and chose the TygerBear Foundation in Bellville, Western Cape as the recipient of the donations from Platinum employees. The TygerBear Foundation deals with the psycho-social treatment, training, support and prevention of trauma suffered by member so the community (from children to care-givers). Platinum employees generously donated cleaning materials, toiletries and non-perishable foods to the TygerBear Foundation.

Donations to St. Joseph’s Children’s Home

May’s Employee of the Month, Lubabalo Mpako selected St. Joseph’s Home, in Montana, Cape Town, who provides convalescent care and medical services to children who suffer from chronic and debilitating illnesses.

Donations to Nazereth House Cape Town

Nazareth House is a haven for sick, weak and vulnerable people. Guided by their core values of compassion, justice, hospitality, patience, respect, dignity and love, the sisters have, for over 150 years, followed their mission to take care of the most vulnerable members of society, regardless of race or religion.

This NGO was selected by Johrika Jenkins, the Employee of the Month for April 2009.

Donations to KwaNothemba Workshop

KwaNothemba Workshop in Khayelitsha is a NGO for the physically disabled, who manufacture woodwork items, clothing and baking items which they sell to members of the community in order to generate an income for the Workshop.

Platinum employees were asked to support this NGO by donating baking items, and once again, the employees opened their hearts to contribute towards this worthy cause.

This NGO was selected by the Employee of the Month for March, Judy Tabotmbi.

Donations to Montessori Crèche

The Montessori Crèche was built from donated materials in 2005 in response to a need in the community of Monwabisi Park, an informal settlement in Khayelitsha, Cape Town.

The Crèche cares for 80 children between the ages of 1 month and 6 years old, of whom are orphans. The volunteers took the Platinum employee representatives for a tour and shared their future plans and objectives with them. The staff’s zestfulness is infectious and the Platinum employee representatives left feeling inspired and eager for the next opportunity to give to those less fortunate.

This institution was chosen by Mkhuseli Buswana (Employee of the Month for February 2009), who is the Head of the Platinum Security Team.

Donations to Durbanville Children’s Home

S.J. Louw, Platinum’s Employee of the Month for January 2009, selected the Durbanville Children’s Home.
